Last night while driving to dinner (hubby's birthday) we watched two motorcycles get a little to close and one go down.  The one that went down was speeding and the other guy had changed lanes and they quickly occupied the same space.  His brand new bike skid a good 150 yards while he tumbled full body down the road for about 100 yards.  Because he was wearing full body armor he was ok overall his only mistake was that he was wearing half gloves, so his knuckles were pretty mangled.   My husband helped get the bike up and off the road and we made sure he was OK.  His comment to the other motorcyclist was "Dude, I know I was speeding but why did you change lanes" and the other one said "I looked" (which we saw him do), but as fast as the other guy was going they just met.  I am not sure who would be at fault in this case, but was very greatful that it turned out OK and very grateful that I wear protective gear.

Ladies, always be aware of your speed and who is around you!

Ride safe

Thanks for the sobering reminder, Carla.  One can just never be too careful and aware!  And thanks for stopping to help these morons.  A lot of cars would have just kept on going.

Carla and Jack,
This must have scared the #&^$*%#@ out you! I am glad you stopped and helped out. And, I feel like we cannot have enough gear to save our life and limbs! If we don't protect ourselves we stand to make our lives and those we love so very, very difficult. After thoughts don't count in this case.

This reminds me of the Accident Safety seminar I went to at the AMA conference this last summer. The seminar was put together to cover the exact accident site you came across. And, the Phoenix chapter had invited us to participate in the same class last month...I wish our Tucson chapter would have participated. If any of our members and non-members would like me to find out how to get the seminar here in Tucson please send me your vote or suggestions and I will pursue it. younnancy@gmail.com

ATGATT - It only takes once!!

I went down to my friends ranch in Mexico this last weekend with my dual sport and had a great time. But, I had put my jacket in one of the trucks while we were messing around with the cattle. While I was not paying attention, that truck left and went back to town with my jacket!  So of course that afternoon , for the first time since 1976, I went down.  I hit some very soft sand while going wayyy toooo fast! I am skinned from the wrist past the elbow. I had on gloves, boots etc so no other injuries, just a lot of purple and a lesson relearned!
